From the Netherlands. Words & Images
Exhibition curation.
I was invited by the Designers Institute of New Zealand in 2005 to co-curate (with St. Paul St., Auckland University of Technology) the ‘From the Netherlands. Words & Images (c.1990-2004)’ exhibition in Wellington. ‘Words & Images' was a touring global exhibition presenting work from over 60 designers and design studios - ranging from influential senior designers to trail-blazing renegade youngsters. Designers featured included Irma Boom, Wim Crouwel, Karel Martens, Maureen Mooren & Daniel van der Velden, Jop van Bennekom, Mediamatic, and Zee. The exhibition had been previously shown in institutions such as the Amsterdam Stedelijk Museum, Institut Néerlandais in Paris and the American Institute of Graphic Artists (AIGA) New York.
My process developed in collaboration with Toon Lauwen (Lauwen Projects, The Hague) and H&M STUDIO (exhibition designers Hanne Van Beek and Matthijs Siljee). Thanks to Keir Husson for documenting the exhibition installation.
